Acute orchioepididymitis
Acute orchioepididymitis is caused by microbes that differ according to the patient's age and sexual activity. It is NOT a sexually transmitted disease. The clinical picture includes redness, swelling, hardness and severe pain of the testicle and epididymitis. A fever may also occur. The diagnosis is clinical. Adjunctively, a urine culture is sent and a scrotal ultrasound is performed to rule out other pathologies of the testicle. Treatment includes antibiotics for 15 days, anti-inflammatories and scrotum suspension (tight underwear and a pad under the testicles during rest).
