Description:

Urethritis

Urethritis is the inflammation of the urethra and is a sexually transmitted disease. The main symptom is a razor-sharp feeling along the urethra without symptoms related to urination. Also, discharge from the urethra is observed, either whitish (gonorrhea) or clear (mycoplasma, ureaplasma, chlamydia urethritis). The diagnosis is made clinically and by culture of urethral discharge (taken with a swab from the urethra). The treatment includes a one-time intravenous administration of a 3rd generation cephalosporin in mucorrhoea, while in the other category doxycycline is administered for 10 days.
